New Solid Security Release Speeds Up and Simplifies User Security Management

Spend less time-on-task when you're actively searching for a user setting.

Solid Security Basic 9.2.0 and Solid Security Pro 8.2.0 let users easily manage their security profile — on your site’s front or back end.

Manage security settings on user profiles.

Solid Security’s new user profile design streamlines the management of individual user security features. This enhanced interface experience is available now in Solid Security Basic and Solid Security Pro. One of the key goals for this release was to reduce time on task. Now, when users actively search for Solid Security’s user settings, they’ll find them on their account profiles.

A new tabbed interface for user security settings appears at the bottom of the back-end user profile screen. Individual users or administrators can review, activate, and configure the user security hardening tools available. Passwordless Login, Passkeys, Two-Factor Authentication, Trusted Devices, and Privilege Escalation all appear here.

The new security tabs appear under Users › Profile › Security in the WordPress admin.

The new Solid Security Pro release improves Privilege Escalation with filtering to show administrators any extended privileges that are temporarily available to users.

While we haven’t changed the core functionality of these security-hardening tools, the new releases make it easier to see which are available and in use.

To opt out of the new Two-Factor Authentication interface, the old interface can be enabled using the SOLID_SECURITY_LEGACY_2FA_UI constant.

Allow users to change their security settings on the front end, too.

Thanks to a new Gutenberg block called “Solid Security User Security Settings,” you can bring user security settings to the front end of your website. This is useful for building custom user pages where logged-in users can modify their security profile without entering the WordPress back end.

Finally, if you want to use a shortcode instead of a block, we have you covered, too. Use the [solid_security_user_profile_settings] shortcode if you’re not using the Block Editor.

Update or install Solid Security Basic 9.2.0 and Solid Security Pro 8.2.0 in your WordPress site’s plugin installer. You may also download Solid Security Basic from wordpress.org and Solid Security Pro from your SolidWP member panel at my.solidwp.com.
